Skating With The Stars Won By Budig
After a close contest, Budig is who won "Skating with the Stars," the celebrity ice skating competition TV show. Budig squared off with Bethenny Frankel within the finale. The show got horrible ratings, so it may skate off into the sunset.
The winner of 'Skating with the Stars'
As a buffer in mid season between fall and spring runs of "Dancing with the Stars," a new series called "Skating with the Stars" was cooked up. The announcement of the "Skating with the Stars" winner happened. CBS reports this. There were two finalists left. "The Real Housewives of New York City" had Bethenny Frankel in there along with Rebecca Budig who is from the "All My Children" soap opera. The end of the Budig and skate partner Fred Palascak skated to "Hot N Cold" by Katy Perry, and received a perfect score for their performance from judges Dick Button, Johnny Weir and Laurieann Gibson. Flo Rida and Kei$ha's "Right Round" was what Frankel and Ethan Burgess skated to. They didn't end up winning though. Frankel was a favorite though. Fans loved it.
Viewers unhappy
Despite the popularity of celebrity reality competition shows, such as "Dancing with the Stars," the ice skating variant has not performed well in the ratings. The Hollywood reporter explains that there wasn't a very good end to the show, even though the start was okay. The show needed to have 3.4 million viewers. A 0.8 Nielsen rating could have been had too. About 4 million viewers were what a "Glee" rerun had with a rating of 1.3. There weren't even more viewers interested with the presence of actress Sean Young and rocker Vince Neil that were skating.
Taking off into the sunset is the show
Ratings are a good predictor of whether a show will get renewed, and it doesn't look good for "Skating with the Stars." Sometimes a second season can come out really strong after a really bad first season though which makes a difference.
